I chose the city of Allentown to do this test because it’s about as close as a city can get to NYC without being within minutes of the Hudson River and NYC. After reading through the results, I realized that many people in their cars were on cell phones but needed to pay attention to their road ahead. A lot of times, they would be distracted by a message or what they saw on the phone screen, so they wouldn’t see anything coming up behind them and wouldn’t react fast enough to avoid an accident.
My purpose in doing this test was to see if there are any ways that drivers can improve their driving skills, so they do not get into accidents because they’re driving while talking on the phone or texting while driving.
I also wanted to show that it’s dangerous for drivers to be distracted, whether with music or conversation. Also, I wanted to show that cell phones can be hazardous, especially when using them in driveways or parking lots where there may be other cars around you, making it more difficult for you to pay attention and react quickly (just like what happened here). Also, I found that some drivers need more practice than others when it comes time for them to take turns driving. So as we move forward in time, we’ll look at how all these things affect our overall driving skills over time.
