Paratransit is a transportation service for people with disabilities. This includes people who use wheelchairs or mobility devices and crutches and walkers. It’s generally unavailable to people with other disabilities (such as hearing loss), although some programs may offer paratransit services.
Paratransit services are usually provided by private companies that contract with local governments to offer curb-to-curb transportation services within a specified area. A Paratransit Operator will meet you at your home or office, take you on an intercity trip, and then return you home after your trip ends at a mutually agreed upon time (usually less than one hour).
