You must be 18 years old and a citizen of the United States to vote. You also need to be a resident of New York State. If you need to check if you’re registered, check out this site: https://www2.nyselections.gov/voter/en/.

To register to vote in New York, you must check the New York State Board of Elections website. Here is a link: http://www1.nysed.gov/elections/voting-resources
Next, fill out an application for absentee voter registration (AVR). You will be asked questions about your name and address and personal information like birth date, gender identity or expression, and marital status if applicable.
Once completed, mail in your AVR form along with any required documents, such as proof of identification or proof that you are eligible under state law, such as a birth certificate or passport photo ID card.*
