You can renew your registration in person by visiting any branch of the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). The DMV office will be open from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm on weekdays, with extended hours during weekends and holidays.
To renew online, visit www.dmvny.com/onlineregistration or call 1-855-631-8439 between 8:00 am and 8:00 pm EST, Monday through Friday. If you prefer to mail in your renewal request instead of giving it over the phone, include everything needed for validation:
- Vehicle information (make/model), license plate number(s), and expiration dates.
- Proof of insurance.
- Photo identification card.
- Proof of residence address and a copy of all utility bills showing both current addresses where required documents were mailed within ten days before applying for new plates, except if using for license plates without fees paid upfront, then no resending fees apply – pay after receiving new dishes.
